  • Skin Conditions Treated With TCA Peels

A dermatologist will recommend TCA mainly when pigmentation issues occur. Sun damaged skin, discoloration from pregnancy, wrinkles, acne, acne scars, and large pores are quite commonly treated via peels. Ice-pick scars (a type of acne scars), peri-oral (around the mouth) or peri-orbital (around the eye) pigmentation, freckles, cases of melasma, acanthosis nigricans,  which is a velvety texture seen on the skin due to obesity, can also be treated effectively through TCA peels. Characteristics of an individual’s skin, like thickness or texture, may influence the effect of the treatment.

     BENEFITS OF CHEMICAL PEELS
Chemical peels can improve uneven skin tone. Age, sunlight, hormonal imbalances, and acne can all leave your complexion looking blotchy and uneven in tone. Luckily, acne scars, sun damage, Melasma, age spots, and more can all be treated with a chemical peel, which reduces the pigment in the affected areas, creating a more consistent skin tone.

Chemical peels can reduce the appearance of large pores. Everyone has pores, but some people have noticeably larger pores than others. If you’re bothered by your large pores and the way they mar the smoothness of your skin, try a chemical peel. When you remove the sun-damaged and aged top layer of skin, you can tighten your pores as well, reducing their appearance.

Chemical peels can reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. If you want to combat your skin’s signs of aging, you might use a chemical peel to take the edge off your wrinkles. You can blur them and reduce their depth, creating a softer and more youthful complexion.

Chemical peels can reduce acne breakouts and fade acne scars. In removing the top layer of skin, chemical peels also remove dead skin cells and clean clogged pores. Depending on the type of acne and its severity, this can reduce skin inflammation and acne breakouts.

Chemical peels can make skin appear brighter, fresher, and smoother. Chemical peels are also beneficial for those who simply want better skin. If you feel that your skin is dull, damaged, or discolored, a light chemical peel could be a great option. It will rejuvenate your skin and may even seem to reverse the toll that age has taken on your skin over the years.

     – – – – –

TCA peels are a great way to improve the look of your skin, be sure if you are a newbie to skin peels you do plenty of research to be sure this is the right type of peel and strength for your skin type. TCA can be diluted to a strength appropraite for your skin with water.

Individuals with sensitive skin or newbies should start with glycolic acids first then graduate to TCA - A 5-15% strength is recommened for newbies. If you are a seasoned chemical peel user and need a stronger acid to remove layers of skin than 15-25% is recommended. TCA peels are NOT recommended for perople with darker skin types as hypopigmentation can occur ( patches of missing skin color). Please be sure to do the proper research!  Do NOT begin with the 20% or 25% TCA unless you have used 15% several times successfully.
